Why did you open a pet grooming salon? Is it something you always wanted to do?
(Debbie): “I opened my first grooming salon when I was 23. I have always had a lifelong passion for animals. I started training dogs at age 10, and even before that age I knew I wanted to work with animals.”

What do you feel is unique about your salon?
(Debbie/Greg): What we feel is unique to our salon is that aside from my vast knowledge of grooming and styling I’ve acquired over the last 35 years, I really aim to work with clients to make grooming the best experience possible. From extensive puppy training, to understanding health concerns, allergies, and how to work with geriatric and special needs dogs.
We’re sent a lot of older and hard to handle cats and dogs from Vets because I understand the reasons behind their behavioral issues and exactly how to work with each animal. I’ve always been told, from the many teachers in my life and clients as well, that I have a gift to read and handle animals.
We also strive to help my clients have the healthiest pets they can. I noticed many years ago that allergies were popping up on way too many of my clients, and vets were prescribing band aids. Allergy drugs were killing livers and internal organs, not curing allergies. So I did my research and stumbled upon Glacier Peak Holistics. We started to offer the Pet Wellness Life Stress Scans and those scans alone have saved so many of my clients lives. Not to mention the variety of other products that continue to keep up the health of our beloved animals.
What seems to be the main concerns of the pet parents that walk into your store?
We have a lot of health concerns coming to us. The number one problem we run into is yeast build up on skin and in ears. Itchy, dry, and patchy skin is a close second. We also get so many clients with torn ACL’s in dogs of all ages. As I said earlier, we do a lot of geriatric dogs, so arthritis is also a largely prevalent issue.

Do you have a success story to share about how the GPH Pet Wellness Life Stress Scan and/ or products have helped a dog or cat get back into balance?
Sadie is one of our regular Shih-Tzu clients. She had been coming to me for about 6 years. Between grooming visits, Sadie’s hair began to completely fall out. She was pulling all of her hair off her body. Her mom took her to the vet but they didn’t know what was wrong. Then Sadie’s skin turned bright red and was extremely hot to the touch. Sadie’s Mom didn’t want to bring her to the salon without knowing what was wrong first. The Vets couldn’t figure out the problem and finally Sadie’s Mom turned to us.
By the time she brought Sadie to me, her back was lined with scabs and it looked as if she would never grow hair again. I immediately did a Pet Wellness Life Stress Scan on Sadie and her mom was shocked at the results. She seemed to have sensitivities to everything she was eating. They changed her diet, got her on Inflapotion for inflamed skin, Daily Defense for detox and building her immune system, and lastlyColloidal Silver and Mountain Salve for skin relief. Sadie is now looking great, growing all of her hair back, it was truly a remarkable recovery.
On top of Sadie’s amazing story, Inflapotion has saved so many dogs lives. It gives hurting dogs of all ages the ability they need to be comfortable and active. I have never seen anything like this. People want to take it themselves after they see the incredible change in their dogs lives!
Do you have a Holistic Vet that you refer people to if needed?
We have a few up and coming holistic vets in our area, and even a traditional vet leaning towards holistics, that we are beginning to build relationships with. Currently we refer clients to Integrated Vet Services if needed.
Do you work with any local animal charities?
We groom for charity for the comfort dogs of Milwaukee Lutheran, for dogs transitioning from foster homes, and for the surrounding areas K-9 units.
What are your plans for the future?
Continuing to educate our clients on natural pet health and giving them the tools they need to succeed with Glacier Peak Holistics, and healthy diets for truly happy, healthy pets!
