Welcome to Autumn,
This has certainly been an eventful summer in NW Montana. In case you haven’t heard, we have fires raging across the entire state. Over 1 million acres already lost to the flames. But Montanans are a resilient bunch. We have a great compassion for our neighbors and so many are helping out on all fronts. Our local animal shelter is 200% over capacity with the animals coming in from evacuations. The Tobacco Valley Animal Shelter is amazing! They bring dogs in from high kill shelters from all over the country to adopt out to our community and our Canadian neighbors. Locals are kicking in time, money and supplies to help them get through this. If you are not being affected by Mother Nature, perhaps you would be inclined to make a small donation to this very worthy cause. Click here to Donate
September is also National Disaster Preparedness Month… I think we have all had a lesson in that this summer, but just in case you’ve missed out on the myriad of incidents, now is the perfect time to make a plan to keep your pets safe, no matter what comes along.
We have created a very special trio for our special this month. Just in time for the “Senior Month” of September. It includes 3oz each of Inflapotion and HerbAprin, plus a .5 oz Mountain Salve. September is also Animal Pain Awareness Month… This trio makes the perfect comfort care package.
Please take note of our special tribute to William. We are so grateful that William's pet parent, Lina took the time to share how Inflapotion helped him with palliative care in his golden hours.
In the Retail Spotlight, you will find Pets Are People Too in Warren, Ohio. Owner Linda Yost spends each and every day educating pet parents on how to keep their pets healthy and happy holistically. We are thrilled she carries our products in her store.
I hope you enjoy this September issue of GPH newsletter, and please, be safe out there.

Why did you open up an Independent Pet Store? Is it something you always wanted to do? I opened up my own store, because at the time, I had to travel an hour for the healthy pet food I used, as my local area did not have the quality pet products I needed at the time. I felt my local community would benefit from a unique, healthy pet food store so I took “the leap of faith” and opened up small store stocking only the best foods/treats in the area. Being a store owner had not entered my mind until I had health issues with my pets. My holistic vet at the time helped me with my cats and I became very interested in companion animal nutrition. I eventually took classes to learn as much as possible and I still go to seminars and webinars.

What do you feel is unique about your store? Unlike the “big box stores”, our shoppe is in an old warehouse, which has it’s own unique charm and personality. We have it decorated with fun pictures, cartoons, and the fact that I am a Snoopy collector, lots of Snoopy!
What seems to be the main concerns of the pet parents that walk into your store? Most pet parents stop in with questions as to why the conventional methods of steroids and antibiotics are not curing the problems. I tell them they need to get to the “root causes” of the problems that are normally the direct result of poor quality foods, food allergies, environmental allergies, over-vaccination, and chemical pesticides for fleas & ticks.
Do you have a success story to share about how the GPH Pet Wellness Life Stress Scan and/ or products have helped a dog or cat get back into balance? They are all success stories and we feel blessed when we can find food/treats that will help out their fur babies. It’s wonderful to see the improvements after the diets are changed. We also recommend that they see our holistic vet.
Do you work with any local animal charities? We support Shelter Puppies of Cortland, Ohio. They are a fantastic, hard working fostering group that do a wonderful job of finding homes for puppies & their mothers, along with strays and owner surrenders.
What are your plans for the future? I plan to continue to educate myself, and to reach out to pet parents having problems.
Recently we received a review on our website for Inflapotion from Lina, Williams mom. The review was so touching that we reached out to Lina and asked if we could put William in the spotlight in our newsletter. She said YES! Unfortunately, William crossed over the rainbow bridge away a few days after we spoke with her.
We still wanted to share Williams story as it appears that Inflapotion helped him get his "puppy on" before he left. Thank you Lina for sharing Williams story. He was a very special dog and he was very lucky to be apart of your family. |

William came home to our family when he was eight years old. Prior to that, he spent his days roaming the vast piñon forests of northern New Mexico, and probably hunting the neighbors' chickens. Needless to say, we were surprised he hadn't been hit by a bullet. This is, after all, a land of alternative, off the grid lifestyles.
He adjusted to life in a family with lots of female energy. For a while, it seemed that he only had eating our domestic cats on his mind. After his adopted older husky sister passed away unexpectedly though, he became quite gentle. Think of a 70 lb bull in a china shop who really just wants to cuddle up, listen to bedtime stories and hide under the covers when a storm passed by. That was William. His interest in house guests, and his gentle demeanor won over babies, children and adults alike. Every morning, around 9:30 he serenaded the entire neighborhood; before long all the dogs within a earshot joined in. And he "talked" about nearly everything when we would return home. Five happy years passed this way.
In May, his other dog sister crossed over the rainbow bridge, and he seemed to be a bit depressed. A couple weeks later, he suffered a severe stroke. Thankfully, he wasn't alone, and he recovered. But then it happened again.
As his health seemed to diminish, questions about his quality of life and comfort level weighed heavily on our family. Scouring the web, we came across a thread that seemed relevant, and found Glacier Peak Holistics' Inflapotion referenced. Interested in reducing any inflammation in his body in a holistic manner, I did a quick info gathering on the company, and then ordered the jar with two day delivery. William had stopped eating. He stopped singing, and was missing bedtime. We really didn't think he'd live long enough to even try the Inflapotion. But, he did. On exactly the 48 hour mark of having first given him the capsules, he stood up, and started behaving as he had before. It was a miracle! He even wanted to go for evening walks. He stood up to greet us when we came home again. His voice was altered, and he didn't use it much. But his improvement was more than we could have expected.
He lived until the last week of July. He had some slow days, and more happy and animated days than we would have ever guessed there to be. He passed peacefully, with some of our family holding him as he took his last breath. We are so glad to have found Glacier Peak Holistics. Thank you for giving William comfort and dignity in life and in death.
Love, Lina, Gigi, Selena (William's best buddy) and Mina.
