Frequently Asked Questions
1. What does "holistic care" really mean?
At its heart, holistic care means looking at the whole animal, not just a single symptom or condition. That’s why we like to spell it whole-istic, it’s a reminder that we’re considering every part of your pet’s well-being.
When illness is in the picture, this broader view allows us to bring together the best of both conventional and complementary therapies. Think veterinary medicine plus supportive tools like herbal remedies, nutritional adjustments, and lifestyle changes—all working as one team.
It’s not about choosing one path over another. It’s about opening up more options to support your animal from every angle.
2. What's the difference between holistic care and traditional veterinary medicine?
Traditional veterinary medicine, often called Western or conventional medicine, focuses on diagnosing and addressing specific symptoms or conditions. It's incredibly effective in acute situations, like managing injuries, stabilizing critical patients, or performing surgeries. When the body needs immediate intervention, conventional medicine is often the go-to.
Holistic care takes a wider view. Instead of zeroing in on a single symptom, it looks at the whole animal; their lifestyle, diet, environment, and overall constitution. The goal isn't to replace conventional medicine but to complement it by supporting the body's natural balance and resilience.
Think of it this way: conventional medicine is excellent at handling the "break," while holistic care focuses on supporting the "whole." They're not opposites, they're teammates. Many animals benefit from having both approaches available when needed.
At Glacier Peak Holistics, our products are designed to support overall wellness and work alongside your veterinarian's recommendations. We always encourage you to consult your vet before starting any new supplement, especially if your animal is recovering from an injury or surgery.
3. Where and how are your products made?
Our 100% organic herbal remedies are handcrafted in small batches right here in our facility nestled in the mountains of Northwest Montana.
We take a careful, quality-first approach to blending. Our herbs are mixed in small batches to minimize any heat buildup. Why does that matter? Heat can compromise the delicate compounds in herbs, so our low-impact process helps preserve their natural potency and integrity. It's our way of making sure every batch delivers the quality your pet deserves.
One thing to keep in mind: because our products are made from real, organic botanicals, you may notice slight variations in color and texture from batch to batch. That's completely normal, and actually a sign that you're getting the real, unaltered plant material, not a lab-created imitation.
4. Do your products have expiration dates?
Yes, they do! Every product we make is labeled with both a Lot Number and an Expiration Date so you always know exactly what you're giving your pet.
As a general rule:
-
Powders and capsules have a shelf life of 2 years from the date of manufacture.
-
Tinctures (liquid extracts) have a slightly longer shelf life of 3 years.
To get the most out of your products, we recommend storing them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. And as always, check the expiration date before use, if your product is past that date, it's best to replace it to ensure your pet is getting the full benefits.
5. Can you use Glacier Peak Holistics products together?
Absolutely! Most of our products are designed to work together synergistically, so you can confidently pair them for enhanced support. That said, a few are best used on their own for a short period to get the full benefit.
A quick but important note:
- Super Cleanse should not be taken at the same time as Daily Defense or Glacier Peak Gold.
- For best results, and to avoid any interference, take Super Cleanse at least two hours apart from other supplements or medications.

6. How do I give your herbal remedies to my pet?
We offer several forms to make it easy, no matter your pet's preferences:
-
Powders: Simply mix the recommended dose into your pet's food with a little warm water or broth to help it blend in smoothly.
-
Capsules: These are a great option for medium-sized dogs. You can hide them in a treat, like cheese or peanut butter, or open the capsule and sprinkle the contents over food if your pet prefers. *We don't recommend capsules for our cat friends!
-
Tinctures (liquid extracts): Perfect for picky eaters and cats! Mix the recommended amount into your pet's food. Do not add the drops to drinking water or directly to the mouth.
A tip for sensitive pets:
Some animals do best with a gradual introduction. We recommend starting with 1/4 to 1/2 of the full recommended dose for the first few days, then slowly increasing to the full amount. This gentle approach can help minimize temporary digestive upset or mild detox reactions as their body adjusts.
As always, if you have questions about which form is right for your pet, we're here to help!
7. How long does it take before I see results using Glacier Peak Holistics products?
Results can vary depending on your pet's individual needs, the product you're using, and the nature of the condition you're addressing. Here's a general timeline to give you an idea:
-
Inflapotion and Herbaprin: Many pet parents notice improvements within 48 hours of the first dose. For more severe issues or chronic conditions, it may take 2 to 3 weeks of consistent use to see the full benefits.
-
Glacier Peak Gold: Most pets begin to show positive changes after the first two rounds. However, if your pet has been dealing with long-standing issues like yeast or fungal imbalances, it may take several rounds to really get to the root of the problem, so patience and consistency are key.
Every pet responds differently to herbs, and we always recommend giving each product a fair trial period while monitoring your pet's progress. If you ever have questions about what to expect, don't hesitate to reach out, we're here to support you!
8. I used the remedy but haven't seen much change yet. What should I consider?
First, it's important to have realistic expectations. Herbal products work gently and support the body's own processes, which can take time. Results vary based on the individual pet and their specific health situation. While some improvements may be noticed within a few days, other pets, especially those with more long-standing or complex health histories, may take several weeks of consistent use to show a response.
A few things to keep in mind:
-
Give it time: Some pets respond quickly; others need more consistent use.
-
Check your dosing: Are you using the full recommended dose for your pet's weight?
-
Consistency matters: Missing doses or skipping days can affect results.
-
Individual response: Every pet is unique, and how they respond will vary. You might notice changes in energy, mobility, or overall demeanor.
If you've been using the product consistently for the recommended time frame and still have concerns please reach out to us for additional options.
9. I've been using your products for a while and they seemed to be working well, but now I'm not seeing the same results. Has your product changed?
Great question, and no, our products haven't changed! We make each batch with the same care and consistency you've come to trust.
What you're experiencing is actually quite common with herbal remedies. In traditional herbal practice, it's often recommended to give the body, and the digestive system, a periodic rest from any supplement. Some practitioners refer to this as "pulsing" the dosage.
Here's the general idea:
-
If you've been using a product daily for six days, take the seventh day off.
-
If you've been using it for 3 weeks, take a one-week break next.
-
If you've been using it for 2 months, take a one-month break next.
While this isn't a hard-and-fast rule, taking a short break can help reset your pet's system and support better absorption when you resume. Many pet parents find that after a rest period, their animal responds more noticeably when they start back up.
We recommend trying a pulse schedule, for example, six days on and one day off, and seeing how your pet responds. As always, if you have questions about your pet's specific needs, we're happy to help.
10. How do I know how much to give my pet and what size to order?
The recommended dosage for each of our products is based on your pet's weight. You'll find the full dosing guidelines right on the product label and on the specific product page on our website, so be sure to check there for the most accurate information.
In some cases, you may see a range of amounts suggested for a particular weight. For example, if your dog weighs 45 lbs., the dosage might be listed as ¼ to ½ teaspoon. Why the range? Every pet is a little different, and just like people, some tolerate herbs more readily than others.
Our general guidance:
-
If your pet has a sensitive digestive system, we recommend starting with about half of the full serving size for the first few days to see how they respond.
-
For pets with heightened sensitivity, you can start even smaller and gradually increase to the full serving size as tolerated.
This gentle approach gives your pet's body time to adjust and helps minimize any temporary digestive upset.
When it comes to sizing, we offer multiple options, from trial sizes to larger containers, so you can choose what works best for your pet and your budget. If you're ever unsure which size or dosage is right, we're just a message away and happy to help!
11. Can I use Inflapotion or Herbaprin for my horse?
Yes, many of our customers use both products for their horses! We also offer a dedicated section of products formulated specifically for horses on our website, so be sure to check the horse tab for additional equine options.
Recommended Usage:
We recommend using this blend for 2 weeks, then resting for 1 week, repeating as needed. For more long-term or chronic support, consider using it for 6 days in a row and then taking one day off each week.
Horse Dosage Recommendation:
A general starting point that many horse owners have found helpful is 1 to 2 tablespoons mixed into grain or feed, up to 3 times per day. For best results, we recommend adding a little moisture, such as apple cider vinegar or water, to each dose to help the powder stick to the grain and make it more appealing to your horse. As you observe improvement, you can gradually decrease the amount. Repeat the cycle as needed.
